I am highly invested in providing an integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental, physical, and spiritual health. While I utilize a number of evidence-based techniques like EMDR, IFS, and IADC, I view my primary job as tailoring individual therapy to empower the inner healer that resides in each of us.

I obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from New Mexico State University in 2017. In 2021, I earned a Ph.D in Transpersonal Counseling (with an emphasis in Grief and Loss) and a Doctorate of Divinity in Spiritual Counseling from UMS Minnesota. Berenice (Bere) Cangas, LMHC (she/her/ella)

Hi, I’m Sarah! I am a second-year Master of Social Work student at the University of Texas at El Paso, and I’m excited to be pursuing my clinical internship with Transcending Counseling. As a developing clinician, my goal is to create a warm, safe, and compassionate environment in each session. I believe in engaging clients in the therapeutic process by collaboratively setting goals, empowering them, and respecting each person’s unique journey, including their cultural background, language, and experiences.

Before I began graduate school, I had the pleasure of working within the El Paso community and collaborating with various non-profit organizations. These experiences profoundly influenced my commitment to supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s challenges. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to work with children and families experiencing recent loss or death. Through direct practice, specialized training, and a trauma- and grief-informed approach, I have gained a deeper understanding of the grief process and the needs of grieving individuals. This work has inspired me to seek out clients at Transcending who face similar challenges, enabling me to provide compassionate and informed support for their healing journey. I am particularly passionate about working with teenagers and young adults, guiding them through significant life changes, helping them explore their self-identity, and equipping them with effective coping skills to thrive.

CLINICAL INTERN

My name is Gaby Correa, a student intern at Grand Canyon University. I am deeply passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces where clients feel heard, seen, and validated. My goal is to guide individuals in their personal growth, helping them overcome challenges and develop the skills they need to become the best versions of themselves.
I bring a combination of clinical knowledge and hands-on experience to my work. In addition to my counseling training, I have extensive experience in behavioral therapy through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), working directly with clients to implement evidence-based interventions, develop coping skills, and reinforce positive behaviors. This experience has strengthened my ability to assess client needs, track progress, and adapt strategies to support individual growth effectively.
I chose counseling because I believe everyone deserves a space where they can be understood without judgment. I am inspired by the courage clients show when facing their challenges and am honored to walk alongside them in their journey toward healing and self-discovery. My approach is client-centered, collaborative, and focused on fostering growth, self-awareness, and well-being.

My name is Benjamin Boldt, I am a second year Masters in Counseling intern from Eastern New Mexico University.

My primary goal is a meet clients where they are at. I aim to listen intently to stories and experiences, working collaboratively to locate a path towards improved well-being and healing. I strive to be genuine, as I believe the most important tool a therapist has is their own humanity.

As a counselor in training, I am excited to learn and develop my skill set. To add to that, the most personally valuable part of my education is what I learn from clients.
